Upfm 107.5 - Fatcat Radio - Bill Gray (Photographer)
Hi peeps!
I was interviewed this afternoon on UPFM 107.5, by Matt Groves and David Lusion, about my photography. I still can’t figure out why anybody would want to talk to me about it as I don’t really see it as anything particularly special. However, they asked and I happily consented to do the interview.
I was nervous as this was my very first time ever doing an interview on national radio. However, Matt and David immediately put me at ease with their fun loving style.
As soon as I get the audio I’ll embed it here for those of you that may have missed my 15 minutes of fame. Please enjoy the interview - I hope I didn't mumble too much - and a few photos I took while I was in UPFM’s studio and office.

Proud Mary w/Street Chant/Cat Venom/MtronBomb/VISTOREY/Tom Tom/Dyson
Friday, September 17 at 9:00pm - September 18 at 12:00am
4:20, 373 K'RD, Newton, Auckland
More Info Proud Mary is back with her fourth installment presenting Street Chant with Cat Venom, Mtron Bomb, VISTOREY, Tom Tom and Dyson on Friday 17th September, 4:20 K’rd, Auckland.
Street Chant has toured New Zealand with their spiritual antecedents The 3Ds, and were hand-picked to play around Australia with The Dead Weather, while watching every song they released top the b.Net charts.
Street Chant is signed to Arch Hill records - home to their predecessors (The Clean) and their brothers (fellow travellers Surf City, who they’ve shared stages and beers with). Their debut album Means was recorded by legendary producer Bob Frisbee (Shaft, Nothing at All) in 2009, and was released in New Zealand on August 10 ahead of two national tours and a trip to the United States in October.
Cat Venom keep with the punk ideals of old; take something, mess it up, deliver it without caring who cares. In this case, taking the gothic elements (nee: personal loves) of Bauhaus and The Cure but melding it with shades of Robots In Disguise and the devil-may-care attitudes of strong female artists of a bygone age – Lydia Lunch, Exene Cervenka and Siouxie Sioux
Mtron has been a radio and club DJ for years playing alongside some of the finest musical talent from around the globe including Audion, DJ Sega, Yukesk, !!!, Bag Raiders, The Teenagers, Ajax, Villains, Horse Meat Disco, Slap'n'Dash and Ladyhawke.
VISTOREY has been fluttering about the airwaves and local hot spots for the last few years. Just like the urban description, VISTOREY will have you forgo all sleep to spend time with her. Expect girl Pop meets Punk Rock fused together with Italo Disco.
DJ TOM TOM and DYSON are back with the music simply described as perfection. It's Dyson's birthday too so we are making this night extra special.
Proud Mary is a club night for people who enjoy fresh, exciting, pumping tunes. Expect a showcase of some of Australasia's hottest musical talent with people from all walks of life.
Leave your hang ups at the door…Proud Mary’s here for the night.

Ink/Coherent K'rd
September is the month to celebrate your birthday if you are a Virgo. If you were born a Virgo, you can almost guarantee that you are the product of Christmas or New Years Tom Foolery. Luckily for us, many parents of the top DJs in Auckland were rolling in the hay during the Christmas Holidays.
This year we are celebrating the Virgo birthday party at Ink and Coherent on K'rd in Auckland. Some of Auckland's top talents will be performing on the night. Regardless of if you are a Virgo, this night is not to be missed.
Line Up:
Tokyo Street Gang (DJ Set) - This is a new performance from a New Zealand favorite. Jay Pots from Bulletproof will be performing under his new moniker. If you haven't scoped his newest videos on Myspace, have a look:
Dick Johnson - He is a dope ass British import who now rules the local scene. He has just started a new label called Neat Recordings, an offshoot of the classic label Paper from the late 90's to mid 2000's. Scope out one of his new tunes below:
Thomas Sahs - This is my party. You may know me from my house music days with Public Access, my brief stint in a my band Honey Claws, or my obnoxious American accent on BFM's Crunkbox show. Regardless, I will have a batch of extraordinary music to deliver live via the Junkbox 3.0. Check out some of the new stuff I have been working on:
Tim Richards - Tim has a myriad of new productions coming out on labels such as: Grindhouse, Curfew and Deib Audio. He is multi talented on the decks as well. He also played at one of my favorite clubs in San Francisco with my homeboy Sascha from Houston. Scope out his Myspace page for updates on his latest work:
Dj Philippa - She is perhaps the most prolific female DJ in New Zealand. She is also a hell of a house dj. You can actually learn how to mix from her at MAINZ or by listening to her show on George. Scope out her interview on Biggie.co.nz:
Jamie D (Jores) - Originally from South Africa, Jamie is an up and coming talent. He has releases coming out on llegal Cargo Records, Lot 49, Greencote Records, Brain Kat Records, HuHu Music and more to come! Scope out his jams:
Amy B - She just got back from rocking it in Vancouver, one of my favorite cities. Many say it is a lot like Auckland. She now works at George as the events manager and is back on the scene.
Brad Cree - Brad is an old school player who can be found at Mix Foundation on High Street. He can rock the party for shizzle!

These are just a few pix I took after the The Only gig. The time period they cover is from around 04:00 to approximately 14:00!
Some friends, both old and new, and I decided to have our own afterparty at various clubs around the city and we eventually wound up in someone’s hotel room.
While The Only are pretty new on the scene in the last year they have had their debut single in the ARIA Top 20 which went on to spend 10+ weeks in the top 50, remixed for One Love, Bomb Squad Records and Vicious - while DIM MAK is busy remixing them.
They've been playing to huge crowds alongside The Bloody Beetroots and Crookers whilst Steve Aoki and Tocadisco are busy playing their songs elsewhere. And now its time they came down to little 'ole NZ and played alongside:
Dan Aux Clarke Gayford Shannon Ryan Audio Harassment Jono Peters (WHG) Monkz Shane Aylett Scott Yearbury (WHG)
It's also the Auckland leg of Dan Aux's winter tour so expect a bit of madness around that.
