Mosca (Night Slugs, Fabric, Fat City - UK) @ Be Night Club

Thursday 17 March 2011

Only $5 on the door!

Nuff Said! and PROPA join forces to to bring one of the leading lights in the UK Bass music scene to Auckland, Night Slugs’ very own DJ Mosca for a night of forward thinning, bass heavy goodness on the heavyweight sound system at the newly refurbished Be night club.

As Mosca, Tom Reid has made some of the most interesting dubstep-not-dubstep over the course of this year. Following his inclusion on our turn of the year bass music compilation ‘Elevator Music Vol. 1’ with his ‘Gold Bricks… I See You’ he released his ‘Square One’ EP on the Night Slugs imprint around the same time, confounding the expectations of almost everyone with a passing interest in dubstep with the inclusion of the sprawling 10 minute duration of his track ‘Nike.’ Shifting patterns and phases like a soundtrack, even now it still keeps you riveted from the start to end of each listen, and it helps a lot that the ‘Club Edit’ of the track, rather than confining his production to a radio edit, merely compressed it down into a shortened burst of energy resulting in a proper stomping flourish. Since then he’s remixed high profile artists like Four Tet and Foals, taking his unique horn heavy approach down fresh and interesting routes, providing some of the standout mixes of those singles. With a few bits forthcoming – including the spectacular hip hop paced jam ‘Tilt Shift’ on Manchester’s Fat City label
- Fabric

Support From:
Tommy Flowers (Nuff Said, Base FM)
MikeE (PROPA, UPFM)
PEAS (Hoiho Recordings, Dirtycash!)

Young Lean - Worth The Wax EP

The ARC @ Brrrkinos Video! http://bit.ly/hyPjPB

LEMONHEADS,

After a lengthy ban from Rakinos, following our prior ban, it looked like THE ARC would never return to the hallowed house above High Street, Rakinos Funk Lounge.

We watched from the fountain as our friends enjoyed the balcony, sold out shows and the charming hospitality of the staff with one resolve - THE ARC would be back.

This year, we would like to reintroduce to you

BRRRRKINOS!!!!

BRRR (with guests)

Back for one night before we are banned again, THE ARC would like to invite you to wreak havoc in the CBD with us.

Joining us will be ex-pat rapper YOUNG LEAN keeping it greazy with a set of all new material and an ice cream face tatt.

Come down town to get it in with the weirdoes, snakes, shorties and petty hustlers in a place we are once again accepted -

Ima bad boy but still there's so much good in me
You can take me out the hood the hood is still in me
I needa girl to feel herself but can still feel me
Just let me be ya only choice no need for planB!
My love life is malnutritions you my vitaminC-
Stay down like hillary and I can be ya billy

Just when I give it throw it back just like we playin
Frisby I can do it by myself but i'd be very lonely
Be tha diva who's my lover and my closest homie
So if you sick and tired of bein sick and tired call me
Pick up the yellow pages and look up gucci! (gucci!)

Metals (AU) Live @ Cassette #9 Video!

MUM of Auckland's Cassette Nine, is proud to present the New Zealand debut appearance of the Australian genre bending dance rock duo- METALS.

METALS is Christopher Coe and Candice Butler.

Chris is a Melbourne based producer/writer/DJ who has been composing, performing and releasing recordings under the Digital Primate moniker for several years now. His most recent release "Keep Calm and Carry On" was mixed by The Mad Professor.

Raised in South Australia, Candice was a published poet at age 11 and grew up on stage and TV, performing as a dancer and actor throughout her childhood.

Finding her heart in hip-hop and neo- soul, she performed with local musicians and by chance came to the attention of Professor Griff of Public Enemy and was invited to perform live with them during their Australian tour. This led to an invitation to record her first demo in Atlanta, produced by Professor Griff himself. Candice jumped at the chance, fully immersing herself in the ALT hip-hop and soul scenes and traveling with Griff and Public Enemy in the US.

On returning to Australia, Candice made Melbourne home and began singing and working on many diverse music projects from rock to house, techno to deep funk. After being spotted MCing at an all female hip hop event in Melbourne, Candice was linked up with Digital Primate. The two then decided to write and record.

Shit happened.

5 March @ 420, K Road

Koha Donation on the Door

All funds will go towards the Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund

a night of UK Bass, Ghettotek, Juke, Dubstep, Techno and buckwild shenanigans featuring:

Ghettozoid (UK)

Ghettozoid is not only a creative force in her own right, she is also the brainchild, the mindbirth, and the biosludge of Bristol, UK’s Sophie Ruston Recently the wind of fate have blown a mighty blow that sent her sails to the sultry shores of Germany’s crown jewel, Berlin, where she currently is entrenched in a Euro-dream: Running her One4Ho imprint with label partner Mai Harper and producing tracks and collaborating with engineers such as Wizard and ginger dream boat, Ginz.

But lets look back to 2009. Yes lets glance back at the past before we try in vain to keep up with her vicious and violent thrusts into a future brighter than the brightest platinum.

Now the dawning of the Ghettozoid future: Early 2010 will see a tour of America as Bubbz’s tour DJ, hitting up SXSW, NYC and MWMC the launch of her One4Ho imprint, with the release of her own Power-Riddim “Seeking” feat the vocal magic of Yolanda with remixes from Blue Daisy and Teknoist. Farther on into positive chronology we can begin to glimpse the hourglass outline of collaborations and Platinum Hits from an all star cast of Platinum hit-making stars. (Did we mention the word Platinum enough yet?)

Ghettozoid puts the Robo back into Robotronic Boogaloo and puts the Ghetto back into Postindustrial-Ghettowarfare. In her spare time she is attempting to modify an 808 in order to make it sexually compatible with her Zoid and hopes to vocode the result.

A little about Kevin Griffiths: Tsuba Records is Kevin's label and one of his great passions. Launched in Jan 2006 Tsuba is now firmly established as one of the UK's leading imprints releasing deep, sexy underground house music. Its the second most charted UK label on RA. .... I've been a DJ for more than 10 years and play all over....Watergate, Fabric, Lost Baggage in Sydney, Zouk in Singapore, Snatch in Miami, City Hall in Barcelona and for Mandarine Crew in Mexico City. Kevin came out to Australia last year and enjoyed his tour so much he thought he would come back for 4 weeks this year to get amongst it in Aussie and lucky us extended his visit to come to Auckland NZ.

With Last Minute Events providing the entertainment he will surely be in for a wicked gig down in the Subterranean bunker that is Coherent. With B.P.M Live on perc + Full decor, Lighting and a smoke machine set up, this party is going be loose.

CAVE PEOPLE DRESS LESS THEME
