daughter of a music teacher, Philippa is a staunch advocate
of underground and real House music - music soaked in soul, flavour,
syncopated beats, and jazz-minded goodness.
As a professional DJ Philippa is a fiery performer, effortlessly controlling
nightclub dance floors up and down New Zealand where her skills and taste
are in hot demand. With a career spanning over ten years now, Philippa
has collected national awards and accolades for her DJing; and has also
held down consistently highly rating shows on, on nationally broadcasting,
Auckland based dance music radio station George FM, for 8 or so years ..

AROHA (GEORGE FM)
///// Aroha has worked in radio and music TV for years; currently she holds down the NZown and Transmission shows on Juice TV and Saturday mornings' The Sweetest Hangover on George FM. She's also a fanatical music collector who plays an eclectic mix of electro, punk funk, spaced out disco and bass heavy tunes.

SOPHIE SIN (MELBOURNE)
///// Sophia Sin is a Melbourne DJ, born in NZ. She has played in Melbourne in such places as "Miss Libertine, The Glasshouse, Kittens and My Aeon (where she played along side Grouch's live triple j set)"
Old school remixed filth is often very influential in her sets not to mention the newest and dirtiest she can find.
-Tequila shots are more than welcome.

SAM NOON (DUBSTYLE SESSIONS)
///// Noon is an Auckland based DJ who holds down a residency at Cassette’s monthly Dubstyle Sessions clubnight. She has a clear focus on representing what’s good in underground bass music, and for Sick Disco she’ll be rolling out a mix of Funky, House, and Dubstep influenced records from top labels like Blunted Robots and Night Slugs etc.

Had I known beforehand that such an event was going to take place, I’d have been front and centre with the camera. However, it took me totally by surprise.

I did manage to capture some video of Leda’s performance which I’ll upload later on.

Hi all,

Last night I had the pleasure of accompanying a DJ friend of mine to the opening of Proud Mary night at Rising Sun and what fun I had!

The opening was part of the ongoing Aroha Festival which has been happening all over Auckland throughout the week and closes tonight with the finale at Galatos.

Upcoming – Aroha Day

Set in iconic Beresford Square, this FREE whānau afternoon and evening of fun and entertainment is a major fundraiser for the Auckland City Mission and Mika Haka Foundation GLBT Youth Programmes.

Chill-out space available with St Johns First Aid on site. Drink lots of water to avoid raised body temperature and dehydration. Bring sun block and a hat.
