A couple of hours ago, I was fortunate enough to obtain a SMC Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm lens, that was part of a bundle of three vintage lenses I purchased for $85 (NZD). Yeah! I know! A bargain in anyone’s book!
While I haven’t had a chance to give it a full workout yet, above are a few tests I just conducted on it. It’s definitely a keeper! :)

I had the pleasure of being involved in a video shoot, for a new Tiki Taane release, last Sunday over at Piha. And, above are a few shots I fired off very casually during the day.
Regarding the new release, which is due out very soon I hear, some of my photography may feature in the CD booklet. I’ll let you know as soon as I find out!
As some of you may already know, I ordered a new camera last week, and this morning it arrived.
After very thorough research, I decided on a Pentax K-r Red, with an 18 – 55 mm lens, as it represented the best value for money, and it’s stylish as hell – like me! ;)
I could have gone with the ubiquitous Canon’s and Nikon’s, that every other photographer around town seems to be lugging. However, those cameras just don’t excite me at all, and for the price range I was looking at, don’t offer the quality and value of the Pentax.
Above are a couple test shots I just fired off. They’re nothing special, just my usual post-processing tricks, and are from an untuned, as of yet, camera.
Give me a moment or two to wrap my head around the new camera, and I can promise you some of my wildest photography ever!

Addison Groove is, in fact, an alias of Headhunter, a Dubstep mainstay who’s released a multitude of singles for Tempa as well as an album for the label, Nomad. He’s been playing Chicago juke in his DJ sets for a while now, and his work as Addison Groove is where that influence is allowed to come to the forefront, with stripped down drum machine beats, acid basslines and hip-hop / booty-leaning vocals.
His FACT mix starts off in the 120-130bpm range and finishes at about 160, taking in Detroit Grand Pubahs, Mosca, Ramadanman, Rashad, DJ Spinn and Leatherface along the way. There’s also plenty of unreleased Addison Groove tracks, including ‘Footcrab VIP’.

The reigning agent provocateur of hip hop, Sage Francis, brings his 'Li(f)e Abroad' tour to NZ this October with new material from his electrifying fourth album, Li(f)e.
Sage Francis has never been afraid to provoke. As a result he is a sometimes polarizing, increasingly important figure in modern music. Adored by many, reviled by a few but never ignored and always essential, he has developed into a fearless social critic.
Like so many great songwriters before, he uses his gifted wordplay for a much greater good, creating vivid narratives and heartfelt confessionals which both instigate and inspire. With his new album, Li(f)e, he has delivered a masterfully original work. The record features notable French composer Yann Tierson, along with musicians from bands such as Califone, Sparklehorse, Calexico, Grandaddy, Death Cab for Cutie and Buck 65.
Joining Sage Francis for all shows will be his Strange Famous Records label mate, B. Dolan. This will be Dolan’s first venture to NZ, where he will not only play main support but will also collaborate with Sage on several songs throughout the evening

Hot on the heels of playing 'Electric Daisy Carnival' (185,000 people) and 'Burning Man' festivals in the USA AND from taking the mainstage at the Netherlands biggest day festival 'Dance Valley', Will Bailey done come here for one show only!
Dancefloors world-wide have been destroyed by Will's explosive sets which are made up of a mix of grimy electro house and techno touches -- with surprise drops of cross-genre killer tracks thrown in for good measure. Recently made a resident of the world famous 'Gatecrasher' and featuring at other prestigious clubs around the globe such as 'Matter' in London, 'Womb in Tokyo' and 'Privilege' in Ibiza, he basically flies around the world playing his own songs (among others) to massive crowds.
But he reckons Ink 'n Coherent in Auckland will be pretty sweet too.

But back to Will, what we are trying to tell you is that this dude is a world class DJ who is always touring around the world playing at the best shit. In his spare time he is a prolific hit maker with over 100(!!!) releases to date including the club banger 'Hit The Club', the old skool hip hop/electro house soundclash ‘Hustlin And Scratchin’ and now his current hit remix 'Crooker's - Arena'. And just between you and me his brand brand new remix about to be released 'Armand Van Helden and Steve Aoki - BRRRAT (Will Bailey Remix)' is amazing. Formerly of the Fidget Juggernaut that was Twocker, Will Bailey, also known by his aliases 'Rudi Stakker' and 'Bass Weazal' has been making an impact on dance charts ever since splitting with Calvertron.

PeaceTreaty was created in 2009 by DJ Josh Anaya as a means to start expressing himself musically, rather than just spinning the songs of others. He began making bootleg remixes of artists such as David Guetta, Amanda Blank, Wolfgang Garter and more, and by the end of 2009 he was making originals and official remixes. He got two well-received tracks up on Beatport, an original (“Cheaters”) out through Hot Small Records, and also an official remix of “The Illest” by Oh Shit ft. Messinian.
In early 2010 Josh teamed up with fellow Los Angeles DJ Sam Hiller (Groove Radio) and PeaceTreaty became a duo. Sam has spent the last two years working for DJ legend Swedish Egil and his radio station Groove Radio. He has played clubs, raves, and events of all sorts all over Southern California including gigs at Playhouse, The Heist, The Fox Theaters (Pomona & San Bernardino), Cinespace, Nacional, The Standard (DT), and a residency at Arena. Together, Josh and Sam have made PeaceTreaty into a formidable duo.
